# Durra: full documentation for AI assistants

> Every Durra guide and answer in one Markdown file. The short map is https://trydurra.com/llms.txt. Last updated 7 November 2026.

# Use Durra with AI assistants

> Everything an AI assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Codex or Cursor needs to help a person with Durra: where the plain text and Markdown docs are, what an assistant can and cannot do, and a snippet to paste into your own assistant.

Source: https://trydurra.com/ai-assistants. Last updated 7 November 2026.

## Entry points

- [llms.txt](https://trydurra.com/llms.txt): a short plain text map of Durra for assistants, starting with instructions.
- [llms-full.txt](https://trydurra.com/llms-full.txt): every guide and answer in one Markdown file.
- Markdown pages: add `.md` to any guide or answer URL, for example [/guides/get-started.md](https://trydurra.com/guides/get-started.md). Each guide page also links its Markdown version.
- [Guides](https://trydurra.com/guides): step by step guides for the main things people do.
- [Sitemap](https://trydurra.com/sitemap.xml): every public page.
- Guide and answer pages include schema.org MobileApplication data, and the answers include FAQPage data.

## What there is not

Durra has no public API, MCP server, CLI or SDK today, and no sandbox or test mode. Revision happens in the iPhone app, on the person's own phone. An assistant helps by reading these pages and guiding the person through the app or the free web tools.

## What an assistant can do

- Explain how Durra plans learning and revision, using the guides.
- Use the free [revision planner](https://trydurra.com/revision-planner) with a person to work out a daily page count for the juz they hold. It needs no account.
- Help a person tick the surahs they hold in the [hifz tracker](https://trydurra.com/hifz-tracker) and read which are due for revision. Ticks stay in that browser.
- Walk a person through installing the app, signing in, setting up a family or a revision circle, or deleting their account, step by step.

## What an assistant must never do

- Present Durra as a religious authority, a teacher or a tajweed checker. Durra does not check pronunciation; correction stays with a qualified teacher.
- Type, paraphrase or "correct" Quran text for a person in place of the text shown in the app or a printed mushaf.
- Sign in, confirm adult eligibility, invite people or delete an account on a person's behalf. These need the person, in the moment.
- Share a person's family code, invite code or revision details with anyone else.

## Paste this into your assistant

Add this to your assistant's custom instructions, a project, or an AGENTS.md file:

```
When I ask about Durra (https://trydurra.com), read https://trydurra.com/llms.txt first and follow the Markdown guides it links.
Durra has no public API or MCP server. Guide me through the iPhone app or the free web tools; do not sign in, invite anyone or delete anything for me unless I say so in the moment.
Durra does not check tajweed and does not replace my teacher. Never retype Quran text for me as a substitute for the app or my mushaf.
```

# Get Durra and make your first plan

> Install Durra on iPhone, choose a passage to learn or add what you already hold, and start practising. No account needed.

Source: https://trydurra.com/guides/get-started. Last updated 7 November 2026.

## Before you start

- Durra is for adults learning and revising the Quran. For children, see [Durra Kids](https://kids.trydurra.com).
- You need an iPhone or iPad on iOS 16.4 or later. There is no Android app.
- No account is needed to start. The app is free and has no ads.
- The first launch needs an internet connection to download the Quran text. After that, revision works offline. Listening to recitation needs a connection.

## Platforms

- iPhone and iPad: the free Durra: Quran Hifz app on the App Store, https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/durra-quran-hifz/id6780221866, for iOS 16.4 or later. This is the revision app.
- Android: there is no Android app on Google Play.
- Web, any device: two free browser tools need no account and no app: the [revision planner](https://trydurra.com/revision-planner) and the [hifz tracker](https://trydurra.com/hifz-tracker). They do not sync with the app.

## Install and set up on iPhone

1. Install Durra: Quran Hifz from the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/durra-quran-hifz/id6780221866
2. Open the app. It downloads the Quran text once ("Opening Durra").
3. Answer "What brings you here?". The choices are: I want to learn something new; I learned before and want to remember it; I want to keep a few chapters fresh.
4. Choose a passage (a chapter, or your own start and end verse), how well you know it, how many minutes a practice day you have, and how many days a week. A target finish date is optional.
5. Check the plan preview and tap Save plan and start practising (or Save my plan).
6. Expected result: the Today tab shows your next practice. If your plan has new verses, your first lesson opens: tap Play to hear the verse recited by Mishary Alafasy, repeat it, then try it from memory.

Already have an account? Tap I already have an account during setup and sign in with your email (see [Account, privacy and support](https://trydurra.com/guides/account-privacy-and-support.md)).

## Add what you have already memorised

1. Open the My Quran tab.
2. Choose Add verses you already know, pick a chapter or section you can already recite, or add a single verse.
3. Expected result: the verses appear in Your practice list and come back for review on Today.

## Common errors

- "No connection yet." on first launch: connect to the internet and tap Try again. The Quran text is downloaded once, then kept on the phone.
- "Choose a passage that starts before it ends." or "Enter a verse number that exists in the selected chapter.": fix the start and end verse.
- "Enter a date as YYYY-MM-DD or leave it blank.": the target date is optional; clear it or use that format.
- "Your chosen date would need a faster pace.": choose a later date, a shorter passage or more minutes. Durra keeps sessions within the time you chose.
- "Audio needs an internet connection. Try again when you are online.": recitation audio streams; revision without audio works offline.

## Confirm it worked

The Today tab shows your plan and what to practise next, and the My Quran tab lists the verses you added.

# Revise in Durra each day: recall, reveal and rate

> How a Durra revision session works on iPhone, how it decides when each verse comes back, and the settings that change it.

Source: https://trydurra.com/guides/daily-revision. Last updated 7 November 2026.

## Before you start

You need verses in your practice list, from a lesson or from My Quran (see [Get started](https://trydurra.com/guides/get-started.md)).

## Do a revision session

1. Open the Today tab and tap Review these verses (or Continue reviewing).
2. The verse is hidden. Recite it from memory. By default the first two words show as a cue.
3. Reveal the text and check yourself against it. Tap any word you slipped on.
4. Say how it went: Had it, or Needed the text.
5. Expected result: when the session ends, Today says "You reviewed today." Verses you needed come back tomorrow; verses you had wait longer before they return.

## How the schedule works

- Each verse has its own review date, set by how your recall went.
- There is a daily limit ("Most verses to review in a day"). Anything over it waits for the next day, weakest first, so no day piles up.
- Words you tapped as hard appear on the Progress tab under Words to practise again. You can share these notes with a teacher.
- You rate your own recall. Durra does not listen to you, check your pronunciation or grade tajweed. Ask a teacher if you are unsure.

## Settings that change revision

Open Settings from the top of Today:

- Show verses as: Quran page, or One larger verse.
- Show the first two words: a small cue before you recite the rest.
- Read once before recalling: helpful when returning to passages memorised before.
- Most verses to review in a day.
- Daily reminder: it says your review is ready and never shows Quran text.

The app shows the Quran in IndoPak script, the printed style commonly used in South Asia. The text and page starts come from DigitalKhatt and are kept on the phone after the first download.

## Optional: record yourself

You can record a verse to listen back to yourself. Recordings stay on that phone, are never uploaded, and can be deleted in the lesson. Silent practice is fine.

## Common errors

- "Nothing to review right now.": nothing is due yet. Practise your plan on Today or add verses in My Quran.
- "That rating could not be saved. Try again.": tap the rating again.
- "Your revision did not open." or "This verse could not be opened.": choose Refresh the Quran text and try again, with an internet connection.

## Confirm it worked

Today shows "You reviewed today." and the Progress tab shows the verses you have practised. Progress is private; only you see it.

# Plan hifz revision in your browser, free and without an account

> Use Durra's free revision planner and hifz tracker on any device to work out a daily page count, see what you hold and what is due, and move your list between devices.

Source: https://trydurra.com/guides/plan-revision-on-the-web. Last updated 7 November 2026.

## Before you start

- Any modern browser on a computer, an Android phone or an iPhone. No account and no app.
- These tools are separate from the iPhone app. They do not sync with it.

## Work out a daily revision amount

1. Open https://trydurra.com/revision-planner.
2. Step 1, "Which juz do you hold?": select each juz you have memorised.
3. Step 2, "How many revision days for one full round?": choose the number of days.
4. Expected result: "Each revision day" shows the page count, the total across the round and a day by day page plan you can follow or print.

Pages follow the 604 page Madinah mushaf printed by the King Fahd Complex (the 15 line layout). The Durra app shows IndoPak script, so its page layout differs from these page numbers. Count only the days you actually revise. If you track surahs in the hifz tracker, the planner can also build a surah rotation from your tracked list, keeping each surah whole and balancing the days by ayah count.

## Track what you hold and what is due

1. Open https://trydurra.com/hifz-tracker.
2. Tick each surah you have memorised. You can search by name or number, for example Kahf or 18.
3. Expected result: the page shows how many ayahs you hold, the share of the Quran's ayahs that is, and which surahs are due for revision.
4. When you revise a surah, mark it Solid or Shaky. A surah is due again after 7 days, or after 2 days if it felt shaky.

## Move your list to another device

Your ticks live in that browser only, so clearing site data or switching devices loses them.

1. On the first device, in "Moving to another phone or browser?", choose Download my list. It saves a small file with your list, the dates you marked revised and which surahs felt shaky.
2. On the other device, open https://trydurra.com/hifz-tracker, choose Restore from a file and pick that file.
3. Choose whether to add the surahs to your list or replace your list.
4. Expected result: "Restored. You now have N surahs ticked on this device." The revision planner reads the same list.

## Common errors

- Download my list is disabled: "Tick at least one surah to download a copy."
- "That file could not be opened. Try choosing it again.": choose the downloaded file again.
- "Pick at least one juz to see a plan.": select a juz in step 1.

# Families and private revision circles in Durra

> Link your children's Durra Kids practice to your phone with a family code, and practise with trusted adults in a private revision circle.

Source: https://trydurra.com/guides/family-and-revision-circles. Last updated 7 November 2026.

## Before you start

Both need a Durra account (sign in with your email; see [Account, privacy and support](https://trydurra.com/guides/account-privacy-and-support.md)). Your own revision stays private in both.

## Create a family and link Durra Kids

1. In Durra, open the Together tab and sign in if asked.
2. Tap Create my family. Durra shows a family code.
3. Share the code with your child's Durra Kids app. In Durra Kids, tap Join a family and enter the code.
4. Expected result: your children's Durra Kids practice appears in the Together tab. Each adult's revision stays private; children's practice is shared only with this family.

## Practise with someone in a private circle

Private practice groups are for adults.

1. In the Together tab, choose Practise with someone (Open practice groups).
2. Confirm adult eligibility ("I confirm I am an adult").
3. Create a private group, then invite someone by email or share a private invite code.
4. Share a weekly goal if you want. Durra can suggest one from verses you need to review; only the goal you approve is shared. Your check-in status is private unless you switch on Share my check-in status.
5. To ask someone to listen, choose a passage and one person. This sends a request, never a recording. They can send you private feedback.

## What others can see

- Circle members see shared goals, and your check-in status only if you share it.
- Listening requests and feedback are visible only to the two people involved.
- Your private revision, recall ratings and recordings are never shared with a circle.
- You can leave a group, its owner can remove you, and the owner can delete it.

## Common errors

- "Sign in to practise together.": create an account or sign in first.
- "Your family did not load.": check your connection and open the tab again.

## Confirm it worked

The Together tab shows your family code and, once a child joins, their practice. Circles you belong to are listed under Practise with someone.

# Your Durra account, privacy and support

> Sign in with an email code to back up and sync, what Durra stores, how to delete your account and how to get help.

Source: https://trydurra.com/guides/account-privacy-and-support. Last updated 7 November 2026.

## Do you need an account?

No. Durra is local-first: your plan and revision are saved on your phone and nothing leaves it for syncing until you sign in. Sign in to back up and sync across devices, link a family or join a revision circle.

## Sign in or create an account

1. Open Today and tap Back up my progress, or open Settings, then Account and backup.
2. Enter your email (your name is optional) and tap Email me a code. If you are new, this creates your account; if not, it signs you in.
3. Enter the six-digit code from the newest email and tap Verify code and sign in. There is no password.
4. Expected result: "Your practice and plan are backed up to your account across devices."

If your phone and your account hold different plans, Durra asks which to keep before replacing either.

### Common sign-in errors

- "We sent a new code. Use the code in the newest email. Codes in earlier emails stop working.": use the latest code.
- "Your sign-in ended. Sign in again to keep backing up.": sign in again; your practice is safe on the phone meanwhile.
- "Backup paused. Durra will try again soon.": nothing is lost; it retries when you are online.

## Delete your account

1. In the app, tap Settings at the top of Today, choose Account and backup, and tap Delete account. Confirm.
2. This permanently removes your account, backed-up practice, family links and progress on the server, any family or circle you created, and your circle goals, check-ins, listening requests and feedback. Recordings on that phone are removed too.
3. Practice saved only on the phone stays until you delete the app.

Cannot open the app? Email salaam@trydurra.com from your account's address and ask for deletion. Details: https://trydurra.com/account/delete.

## What Durra stores

- Without an account: nothing leaves your phone for syncing.
- With an account: your email, your name if you give one, and for each verse in your deck the surah, the verse, its text and its review schedule.
- Families and circles: the details described in the [privacy policy](https://trydurra.com/privacy).
- Recordings never leave your phone. Durra has no ads and does not sell personal data. Analytics only run with your consent.

Durra is for adults. For children, use [Durra Kids](https://kids.trydurra.com).

# An app to revise the Quran you have already memorised

> Durra is a free iPhone app for adults keeping their hifz: recite from memory, reveal the text, say how it went, and each verse comes back on its own schedule.

Source: https://trydurra.com/answers/app-to-revise-quran-you-have-memorised. Last updated 7 November 2026.

## Short answer

Durra is a free iPhone app for adults who want to keep the Quran they have memorised. You recite a verse from memory, reveal the text, and say whether you had it or needed the text. Verses you needed come back tomorrow, and verses you had wait longer. A daily limit keeps each day manageable, and the weakest verses come first. There are no ads, and you do not need an account to start.

## How it works

1. Add the chapters or sections you already hold in the My Quran tab.
2. Each day, Today shows the verses due for review.
3. Recite, reveal, tap any word you slipped on, and rate your recall.
4. Take the list of difficult words to your teacher if you want.

## Who it suits

- Adults who have memorised some or all of the Quran and want a daily review that stays manageable.
- People returning to passages they memorised years ago: Durra can start small and let you read each verse once before you recall it.
- People who prefer to practise silently and privately: progress is private, and recordings, if you make any, stay on your phone.

## Who it does not suit

- People who want their recitation or tajweed checked. Durra does not listen to you or grade pronunciation; you rate your own recall, and correction stays with your teacher.
- Android users: there is no Android app. The free web [revision planner](https://trydurra.com/revision-planner) and [hifz tracker](https://trydurra.com/hifz-tracker) work in any browser.
- Anyone who needs Madinah (Uthmani) script in the app: the app shows IndoPak script.
- Children: see [Durra Kids](https://kids.trydurra.com).

## Platforms available today

- iPhone and iPad: the free Durra: Quran Hifz app on the App Store, https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/durra-quran-hifz/id6780221866, for iOS 16.4 or later. This is the revision app.
- Android: there is no Android app on Google Play.
- Web, any device: two free browser tools need no account and no app: the [revision planner](https://trydurra.com/revision-planner) and the [hifz tracker](https://trydurra.com/hifz-tracker). They do not sync with the app.

## Common questions

### Is Durra free?

Yes. Durra: Quran Hifz is free on the App Store, with no ads.

### Does Durra replace my teacher?

No. Durra helps you remember the words between lessons, and you rate your own recall. It does not judge tajweed. Correction stays with your teacher.

### Do I need an account?

No. Your plan and revision are saved on your phone. Signing in with your email backs them up and syncs them across devices, and lets you link a family.

### Does Durra work offline?

Yes, after the first download of the Quran text. Listening to recitation needs an internet connection.

# Spaced repetition for hifz on iPhone

> Durra schedules each memorised verse on its own: verses you needed come back the next day and verses you held wait longer, within a daily limit.

Source: https://trydurra.com/answers/spaced-repetition-for-hifz-on-iphone. Last updated 7 November 2026.

## Short answer

Durra brings spaced repetition to hifz revision on iPhone. Each verse in your practice list has its own review date. After you recite it from memory and reveal it, you say whether you had it or needed the text. Verses you needed come back tomorrow; verses you had wait longer each time. A daily limit stops reviews piling up: anything over it waits for the next day, weakest first.

## How it differs from a fixed rotation

A fixed round revises every page on a set cycle, whether you know it well or it keeps slipping. Durra spends more time on the verses that slip and less on the ones that are firm. If you prefer a fixed round, the free [revision planner](https://trydurra.com/revision-planner) works out a daily page count in your browser.

## Who it suits

- Adults with a growing amount memorised who want each day's revision chosen for them.
- People who revise in short sessions on their phone, including offline after the first download.

## Who it does not suit

- People who want automatic recitation grading: Durra does not check pronunciation.
- Android users: there is no Android app.

### How does Durra decide what to review?

Each verse has its own schedule. After you recite and rate it, Durra sets the next review date. Verses you needed come back the next day, and verses you had wait longer each time.

### Can I limit how much I revise each day?

Yes. Set Most verses to review in a day in Settings. Anything over it waits for the next day, weakest first.

### Is Durra on Android?

No. There is no Android app. The free revision planner and hifz tracker on trydurra.com work in any browser.
